Alliance
for Environmental Technology
A Responsible Care® Supporting Association
The
Alliance for Environmental Technology (AET) is an international
association of chemical manufacturers dedicated to improving the
environmental performance of the pulp and paper industry. AET was
created to establish a clearing house of educational and
technical resources relating to Chlorine Dioxide and it's use in
papermaking.
As a
priority issue, AET supports the use of chlorine dioxide
bleaching (also known as Elemental Chlorine-Free or ECF), a
pollution prevention technology recognized by the International
Joint Commission and the International Court of Justice. It is a remarkable bleaching agent that
eliminates persistent, bioaccumulative toxic substances in mill
waste-water. Chlorine dioxide is also an essential component for
producing the highest quality pulp and paper products.
What's
New
-
For
the 22nd year in a row, Elemental Chlorine-Free (ECF) Pulp
increased its share of the world's bleached chemical pulp
market. The greater than 93% market share ECF pulp captured in
2010 confirms ECF as the best available bleaching technology for
chemical pulps. The growth for ECF is documented in "Trends
in World Bleached Pulp Production: 1990 - 2012," a report
released today by the Alliance for Environmental Technology
(AET). Click here
