The 1997 EPA NLFWCA shows a total of 2,299 U.S. waterbodies under some type of fish consumption advisory. Eighteen states have issued statewide advisories for particuliar pollutants and types of waterbodies. For these states, a

denotes a statewide advisory for rivers, and

denotes a statewide advisory for costal waters.
